i'm getting really nervous about catching this bus to the airport at 3:40 this morning. i have to walk there by myself with my big ugly travel backpack... it's an issue. i'll be fine, i know, but it's 3am in london, right!? i can be nervous. anyway, i'm really intrigued thinking about how these next few days will go - being in italy alone for 6 full days. i'm sure i'll meet people at the hostel. it should go well - i've loved the past 2 being in the apartment/london alone...well, besides making a trip to oxford circus the other day. oxford circus never puts me in a good mood.
me with my dirty sox! --- leifsdottir dress that SJP wore

i went to anthropologie today and it felt like being at home. i just sat on a couch and took it all in...it felt so good.

except, this was like the mecca of all anthropologies: it had a 3 story wall with live plants growing on it, a huge stuffed sperm whale hanging from the basement ceiling and cupboards + cupboards full of gorgeous teacups.

i bought a pretty coaster and a huge mug to put my coffee in...

Cheers!

anyway... dear florence+pisa... be nice!

had a long, beautiful and tiring day today.

i woke up early and went to spitalfields to pick something up that i've been saving my extra weekly food stipend for: a fur gilet from miss jody peach. she let me have it for a really good price after i emailed her the other day about it. she was so nice - - it made my day better.
after picking the fur up i headed over to blondie (vintage store) and tried on a bunch of boots - none of them really worked (mainly because i spent too much money at topshop yesterday and i didn't feel good thinking about spending another 40 pounds on a pair of uncomfortable but adorable vintage boots that needed to be re-heeled.) but i did spot a really cool calfskin pouch that i got for REALLY cheap. !!
chloe dress+longchamp bag

after spits i went to the V&A and took a lot of pictures of all the gowns that they had displayed

- and SHOES.

it was really nice, but then... when i got home, i went to eat a clementine and there was a maggot crawling around in the center. i seriously feel like i need to pour acid down my throat to make this horrible feeling go away. i mean, i didn't bite into it but... still. i had eaten some prior to that one. UGH.

i leave for italy in a day!

i know you could just find these pictures on stockholmstreetstyle, but i loved these, so i put them up :)

me in 60 years. still wearing high heels. hopefully less wrinkled and more hair, but that's probably wishful thinking....
i love the color palate of this outfit that anna dello russo is wearing!

anne and amelia helped me buy bus tickets to the airport for my trip on tuesday, SO HELPFUL! other than that, my day has been fairly uneventful... but nice nonetheless. just mentally preparing myself to be alone in italy for 6 days. SO EXCITED!

21.10.09

so i'm leaving for florence/tuscany in about 6 days for my fall break, and i'm getting a bit anxious. the break is needed and i'm very excited to be surrounded by italians once again but i really want to see tuscany's landscapes and i'm not sure where to begin. anyone have any advice? i want to see things like THIS:

which will probably end up looking like THIS, being it's October:
but i'm staying HERE:

bought some new tights today at selfridges! house of holland x pretty polly The OTK.

i went to SHOWstudio FASHION REVOLUTION the other day.

i got lost on the way to class. i walked 20 minutes in the wrong direction, so i ended up being tired, frustrated and 45 minutes late to the Coultard Museum where we were meeting. i have no idea why i was late or lost, i have been to somerset house before (...fashion week, brit.)

anyway, my class was gone and i was too upset to look at any paintings at that point, so i walked through the courtyard at somerset house and down to the ground level entryway where there was a big portrait of naomi campbell holding a gun. fitting. it cost me four pounds to get in and made my day a LOT better. i forgot my camera, though, so i'm going back there on saturday (i'm also going to ORIGIN, so i'll get a discount voucher for attending that...) anyway, i ended up sitting in the fashion film room for a while because it was really relaxing and, well, the short films were incredible.

the gareth pugh one that i posted on the 14th is my favorite, but this was interesting and fun:

here's a short on it:

WHATS IN VOGUE?

TIM WALKER, PART OF MOVING FASHION, 2005

Moving Fashion commissioned leading fashion figures to create video shorts investigating the representation of clothing through movement - perhaps the last great challenge in fashion image-making. Photographer Tim Walker's offering references those halycon post-war days when the magazine was king in a fantastic and fantastical take on trompe l'oeil.

my favorite ones are gareth pugh's, though.

obsessed.

my camera battery died, so i haven't been able to take any pictures over here for about a week. it's been fairly easy... i think i've gotten sick of toting the camera everywhere with the anxiety of possibly missing the chance at a good picture.
the other night amelia and i went out in camden (hawley arms) which was a really different area in comparison to shoreditch, paddington, kensington... i felt like everyone there was fairly young and really into nirvana. most people dressed like they were in the 90's grunge scene. i wish i had my camera to take pictures, but... i didn't.
while there, we bought and shared a bottle of wine which was actually a terrible idea since neither of us had really eaten much at work that day. someone ended up stealing my pashmina scarf, i sang too loudly to RHCP and i got on four wrong trains on the way back home...but i made it back safely, to my surprise.

perk

so these past few days have been interesting...
my roommate and i went to Central Perk (yes... the cafe from F.R.I.E.N.D.S) yesterday only to find a line that took up two blocks of city street in SoHo. we decided to walk away from the screaming 13 year olds. instead, we walked through Liberty, had some coffee at cafe nero, jumped on the tube to liverpool and spent the rest of the day at brick lane eyeing the markets. i got to see some Miss Van artwork - i took some pictures - and bought a one of a kind silk blouse with polka dots on it for 20 pounds. it was a pretty decent day... last night i just went to the green man with 2 other girls and sang (over) karaoke. again. ha!

for work on friday, anne sent me to wimbledon to drop some clothes off at another boutique... wimbledon was adorable, but after walking up a bastard of a hill in my 4 inch heels i wasn't all for walking around and taking a peek at the cute little shops. on my way down the hill, though, i spotted an aveda and couldn't really prevent myself from walking in... and buying some aveda comforting tea. i think the saleswoman was surprised as to how much buying the tea really made my day. HONEST. I LOVE THAT TEA! it was cheaper here than it is in the states, which was also amazing!

ok, enough about tea. here are some pictures from this week/weekend. (on Tuesday i went to the national gallery and trafalgar square for class and took a few pictures, too...)
